Angela and Pat | Real Wedding Story

Welcome to Angela and Pat’s Real Wedding Story at The Cascade in Hamden, CT.  They describe their wedding day first hand from our interview.

When was your wedding?  12/08/2012

What made you choose your wedding date?  I knew I had always wanted a winter wonderland wedding. Ever since I looked through a bridal magazine and saw a wedding with the colors silver, white and pewter it just felt magical. I loved the idea of silver trees, silver crystals and sparkle. I wanted my wedding day to feel like the holiday spirit. Everyone is always happy and full of cheer and I just thought that December would be a perfect month to capture that feeling.

What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day?  I was so bummed when I woke up to a rainy and gloomy day on my wedding day. Whenever I envisioned my wedding day, I had thought it would be snowing or sunny. Little did I know that I was going to get one of the only rainy days in Dec. At the end of the day though, the weather ended up working in our favor. It stopped raining just when we were about to head to the church and it held off for the rest of the evening.

Dress: Mariella Creations, Rocky Hill, CT

Suits/Tuxes: J.T.  Ghamo, Newington, CT

Where did you get your rings? Sterling JewelersEngagment Ring,  Gem Jewelery – Wedding Bands

Pre-Wedding Dress Photos – Juicy Couture suit
Wedding Dress – Lazaro
Bride and bridesmaid shoes – Christian Louboutin
Mother of Bride – Jovani

What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number?  Our total count was 196. We knew that we didn’t want to go over 200. The wedding list was definitely the most challenging part of the wedding day. In an ideal world, we would have loved to have been able to invite everyone who has impacted our lives but at the end of the day we had a number and budget that we wanted to stick with.

Where did you have your Ceremony?   Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield, CT.

Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective)  Walking down the aisle and seeing Pat cry. It was the reaction that every girl dreams of and I was able to experience it.

Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective)  Angela walking down the aisle – Best moment of my life. It was better than I imagined and surpassed all of my expectations and I wish the day never ended.

What do you remember most about the Ceremony?   Our first kiss as husband and wife! Pat dipped me on the alter and it was an awesome introduction as husband and wife!

Who was the Officiant?  Father Thomas Campion

Who did your hair? Angela Dubreuill

Who did your makeup?  Naomi Martinez

Who was the florist? Terri Krisivage

Who was your coordinator or designer, (if any)?  My mom! Without her there would not have been a wedding! She was on top of everything from the day I got engaged!

Where was the Reception held?  Cascade – Hamden, CT

What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations?   We had personalized table numbers. On each table, we had pictures of each of us at that age. We had an amazing candy buffet created by my sister (Candy Couture). She created a display with custom candy bars and candy with colors that matched our winter wonderland theme along with a fabulous sparkly display. We had a few slideshows throughout the evening that made the reception more personal. Pat and I also made a speech which is not the norm at weddings, but we just felt like we wanted to take the time to personally thank a few specific people in our lives and our guests. At the end of the night we had fireworks and sparklers. It was a perfect fairytale ending to a magical day.

What ended up being your favorite photo?  So many to choose from! All of the photos really captured the day perfectly. We loved the one with the sparklers and the heart with the Christmas lights in the background.

What was the funniest thing that your remember happening?  Angela – I had planned to surprise serenade Pat with the song “I say a little prayer for you” from My Best Friends Wedding. Everyone at the wedding knew their parts and had the lyrics prior to the reception but everyone seemed to freeze! It was definitely memorable!

Pat’s Perspective – Angela’s dads pitching and catching speech.

Who was the entertainment?  Todd Powers

What part of the day do you want to do again and why?  Everything! We wish the reception could have went all night long!

What regrets, (if any) do you have about the planning of your wedding and your decisions leading up to the day?  I wish that I didn’t stress about small details. In the end everything was perfect.

What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now).  Jerome and Jen were awesome to work with. They had an ability to make everyone feel comfortable. I think my dad summed it up perfectly when at the end of the evening he said that Jerome and Jen just seemed to fit right in and felt like they were a part of the family.

Any advice to offer new Brides and Grooms to-be?  Enjoy every moment and really try to take mental images of the whole day. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience.

Other Comments you would like to add….The day after the wedding we couldn’t believe that the day we had been waiting for and planning for was over. We feel lucky to have chosen to work with Jerome and Jen because even though the day ended, they captured our day perfectly through their photos and we will be able to cherish those forever!

Where did you take your honeymoon? And how did you like it?  Sandals La Toc St. Lucia – We had an amazing time. The weather and the views of the Piton mountains were amazing. We had a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. We had the chance to go ziplining through a rainforest, golfing, horseback riding through the ocean and we took a boat tour through Soufriere. While in Soufriere, we went to the mudbaths, a waterfall and we had the best lunch in an authentic Creole restaurant. It all went by way too fast!
