Welcome to the Real Wedding Story of Brie and Lucas, held at The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien, Connecticut. They describe their wedding day firsthand from our interview.
When was your wedding? 7/28/2012
What made you choose your wedding date? Always wanted a summer wedding and it happened to be the 6 year anniversary of the weekend we had our first date.
What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day? The weather was cloudy. Not what we hoped for, but they say it is better for pictures with no squinting. However, I did not like the downpour of rain that happened at the end of our pictures…it did however make for some amazing shots and it certainly did NOT impact our day. Although you want to perfect weather, it is not what makes your wedding.
What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number? Our total guest count was 174. We had a number in mind, wrote a list if we had no restrictions and then made some tough decisions after that. However the number was in our budget and we had everyone there we wanted.
Wedding dress is from Bridal Suite Stamford, Connecticut and the tuxes are from Men’s Warehouse.
Where did you have your Ceremony? Our ceremony was at Saint John’s Church in Darien, Connecticut. We didn’t have a connection to any church together yet, and Brie’s grandmother attended St. John’s when she was with us. Having the ceremony there made Brie feel her grandmother was a part of the event.
Who was the Officiant? Father Frank.
What do you remember most about the Ceremony? Lucas remembers Brie coming down the aisle. Brie remembers smiling the whole time and telling Lucas to stop rocking.
Who was your florist? Sarah’s Flowers Norwalk, Connecticut.
Who was your videographer? Bruno St. Jerome Productions.
Where was the Reception held? The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien, Connecticut.
Who did your hair and makeup? Noble Salon (Deb and Gina), Stamford, Connecticut.
Who was the entertainment? DJ Teddy.
Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective) Watching Brie come down the aisle.
What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations? Our centerpieces were handmade from sand and shells from the beach we had our first date, along with a poem written by Brie explaining that. We also had photo coasters for our favors that held various pictures of events Lucas and I have been to together.
What part of the day do you want to do again and why? We would have to say the whole reception because it was incredible.
Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective) Standing on the speaker and singing Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi.
What was the funniest thing that your remember happening? Our DJ held some pretty intense table wars which included chair walking, table lifting and even a table being removed from the area.
What regrets, (if any) do you have about the planning of your wedding and your decisions leading up to the day? None.
What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now) Jerome and Amanda were awesome. They caught every shot that captured the entire night. They were fun and completely prepared (umbrellas and even an extra shirt for a red wine spill on a guest). Studio1923 is personable and connects with you as a couple. Would recommend to anyone!! Can’t wait to include them in our baby photos when that comes!
Any advice to offer new brides and grooms to-be? It is hard to do, but keeping things simple and realizing it is not the details that make the day/night, it is the people around you and the event that is taking place that makes your wedding. Don’t stress, just make it what you want it with the people you love.
Where did you get your rings? J Albert Johnson Fairfield, Connecticut.
Other Comments you would like to add….Our wedding was completely amazing. From the engagement to the event, our concept of “SIMPLE” led us not to be stressed and enjoy every minute of planning and of our day. Like I said above…it didn’t matter if things didn’t go exactly as planned, we got married and we were surrounded by people we love and who love us and we ALL had an unforgettable time. That time can be remembered by the photos that Studio1923 took for us…Thank you!!
A picture from our engagement…
What ended up being your favorite photo? The favorite fun photo would be of us at the reception at the end with our hands up and us kissing. Two favorite formals would be on the dock in the pouring rain and under the boathouse laughing
Where did you take your honeymoon? And how did you like it? Brie teaches summer school, so we are going this June, 11 months later to Hawaii for 11 days. We are looking forward to all the adventures we have planned there without the overload of going right after the wedding. So ready to just enjoy the time. It also helped not having to plan a honeymoon at the same time as the wedding.
