Colleen and Jeff | Real Wedding Story

Welcome to Colleen and Jeff’s Real Wedding Story held at Cascade in Hamden, Connecticut.  They describe their wedding day firsthand from our interview.

When was your wedding?  05/05/2012

What made you choose your wedding date?  I had a sister that passed away in 2007. Her favorite number was 5. So in honor of her we got married on the 5th day of the 5th month.

What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day?  The weather was perfect! It was a little cloudy during the day, but for the ceremony it cleared up with blue skies.

What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number?  The total guest count was 190. We were lucky enough to invite everyone that we wanted there since Cascade could hold that amount.

Who Did your Hair?  Sara Mortensen (Studio 10)

Who did your makeup?  Beauty Entourage

Who was the florist?  Just For You – Jane Rynaski

Special memory…My veil – When I originally tried on the dress, I was so excited about the dress and the price of it that I didn’t realize the price of the veil until I checked out. Once the lady told me the price of the veil, I quickly returned it. Well about a month later, I came home to a box sitting on my front doorstep. When I opened up the box inside I realized the veil I had wanted was in the box. I was caught off guard especially with the note inside. It was the sweetest note signed or should I say typed from my guardian angels, my mother and sister both who are deceased. Everyone I asked denied having anything to do with the veil. I even tried to call the store but they wouldn’t tell me. Needless to say, two nights before our wedding at our rehearsal dinner, I found out who the veil was from. The veil was from three cousins, my sister, father, and now husband! Very sweet and thoughtful!

Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective)  My most vivid memory is being able to have our loved ones that passed still be with me as I walked down the aisle. I had several charms attached to my bouquet. In black and white colors, I had my mom, sister, grandparents, Jeff’s father and his grandmother. I also had a charm of my dog in color since he is still alive and Jeff used the dog to help propose to me.

Where did you have your Ceremony and Reception?  Our ceremony and reception were at Cascade in Hamden, Connecticut.

Wedding Dress – Teracina by Maggie Sottero from New York Lace in Tauton, MA

Bride’s Shoes – RSVP

Girls Dresses – Most Alfred Angelo

Men’s Tux – Men’s Warehouse

What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations?  Everything!! Every vendor that we chose helped made our day so personal and special.

What regrets, (if any) do you have about the planning of your wedding and your decisions leading up to the day?  None! I loved the year and a half engagement to plan.

What do you remember most about the Ceremony?  I remember how excited I felt when I saw Jeff for the first time. I was about 15 feet from him with my father by my side. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.
And the ceremony was short and sweet to the point!

Who was the officiant?  Bill Pizzuto

What was the funniest thing that your remember happening?  Colleen – The best man tried to give me the wrong ring!

What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now)  That they were an amazing trio! Jerome and Amanda were great behind the cameras while Jen was great behind the scenes. Very easy to work with.

What ended up being your favorite photo? The picture of Jeff and I kissing with the bright blue sky above us.
And the picture of my siblings and me. My sister is on the left side of me and my brother is on my right side. My sister that passed is also shown in the picture on my bouquet with her charm being shown. This was not planned. My favorite by far because all the silbings were together.

Who was the entertainment?  Mike Connolly

What was the funniest thing that your remember happening?  Jeff – Icing Jerome during the reception!

What part of the day do you want to do again and why?  I would redo the whole day over again! I never felt an ounce of stress or nerves the day of the wedding. I seriously recommend getting a massage the day before your wedding!

Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective)    Suprising Colleen with the extra wedding band during dinner.

Where did you get your rings? Best Man’s Mom Use to own a jewerly store so a friend helped her make them.
