Q: What was your favorite part about the photographs and what ended up being your favorite photo?

A: The photographs didn’t just take snapshots of moments, they tell the story of our day. Every time we look back at them they help us relive the details of our day. Can’t say there’s just one favorite photo to mention – seems like they’re more like a story book of the experience.

Here is Elizabeth and Gary’s “First Sight”.   We had Gary stand at the bottom of the staircase, and await Elizabeth’s grand entrance.

Q: What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for?

A: Well…the weather was not so great. It was pretty chilly for June and it did rain as soon as I left the hair salon. It didn’t really impact our day that much, because we were getting married in a church and had an indoor night reception, we really didn’t need to have beautiful weather to make our day, I felt like I was donating a beautiful day to someone who was having an outdoor wedding and needed it.

Q: Where did the guys get their suits/tuxes?

A: Melluzzo Mens Wear in Southington

Q: What was it like to have Jerome photograph your day?

A: I’ll always say one of our very best wedding planning decisions was working with Jerome. He was a highlight for us all, it was as if we knew him forever and he was our friend joining our celebration. We knew without question before we even saw the first photo that he captured our day wonderfully. He was present for every moment without being intrusive, he was always one step ahead of where you wanted him and he treated everyone as if he knew us all too. I can’t say enough about how happy we were to have him there.

Q: Why did you have your wedding on that date?

A: We wanted an early summer wedding and preferred a Friday evening.

Q: Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day?

A: (Gary) Seeing my fiance for the first time.

Q: What do you remember most about the Ceremony?

A: It went by too fast. I remember waiting in the priest’s room in the back of the church and giving my mom a kiss before she walked down the aisle to ave maria, I really wanted to stop and remember those moments. My closest friends all left to walk down the aisle and my father and I both took a deep breath…walking down and seeing Gary at the end of the aisle just made me so excited about the reality of our day. Once we were seated and together in front of the church, I couldn’t help but look at all our friends and family, it felt so real and incredible at that moment.

Q: Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day?

A: Everything is so vivid – it was our wedding day! Walking down the stairs when Gary first came in (hoping not to trip), riding to the church with my mom and my bridal party thinking how close it all was, holding my fathers arm firmly and walking him down the aisle as much as he was walking me, lighting a candle for Gary’s mom and holding back sad tears for the first time that day, walking out of the church feeling like we just did the most important thing we’ll ever do in our lives…I could go on.

Q: What characteristics of the ceremony made your event most unique to you two as a couple?

A:Well we never got married before so that was pretty unique 😉 Nothing too out of the ordinary for a Catholic mass wedding, it was important for us to be married in the church…to me, the music was most dramatic and helped us celebrate the sacrament of marriage.

Q: Why did you pick the number of guests you did?

A:Our total guest count was around 175 and we pretty much came to that after reviewing our lists a few times and cutting a few from both our “sides”…in the end, we wish we’d just invited everyone we had on our first list – we were really trying to stay under 200 and probably would’ve made it.

A: The Bond Ballroom in Hartford.

Q: Any advice to offer new brides and grooms to-be?

A: Relax! It’s the best day of your lives, everyone is there to celebrate you and your future – enjoy every possible moment you can and don’t get bogged down in the minute details that won’t matter in the end.

Q: What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations?

A: We were relaxed and actually enjoyed every moment of it; we took the moments to step back and watch it all happen around us. We wanted everyone to enjoy and just share in our excitement. We didn’t expect everything to be flawless, but we expected everything to add up to the best day of our lives. We didn’t have a vision for what that was until it actually happened and all came together – it’s the first time we shared a complete celebration of who we are together with everyone we love supporting our day and our futures. A wonderful celebration!

Q: What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Jerome?

A: How much he just naturally fit into our day and was such a part of making it all run smoothly. His constant efforts to make sure we were happy were so appreciated, from taking pictures with our friends’ silly point and shoots to grabbing my bouquet before our first dance, he was always a step ahead.

Q:What was the funniest thing that your remember happening?

A: Funniest and most terrifying was doing our first dance – never done in a wedding dress before – I had to drag my feet the whole time so I didn’t trip myself while Gary and I counted to each other and laughed the whole time trying not to think about how many people were watching us and if we’d actually make it all the way to the end!

Q: What part of the day do you want to do again and why?

A: The entire reception, it went to fast and we wanted to spend more time with everyone.

Q:Tell me about your engagement ring?

A: The main stone was from my (Elizabeth) grandmother’s original 1941 ring

Studio1923 / Jerome Braga

Q: Where did you get your rings?

A: Mark Salis designed the engagement ring, Becker’s for both our wedding rings.  (Becker’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, 65 LaSalle Rd., West Harford, Connecticut 06107)

Q:Any other comments?

A: Jerome rocks and we absolutely recommend him to anyone we know getting married (sorry we’re one of the last to get married though!!). We’d be happy to serve as a reference for you at any time and hope we get to work with you or see you again sometime soon.
