Inaugural Photography Meetup™ & Shootout a huge success!

So yesterday we had our first inaugural shootout!  We had quite and awesome turnout with just about 40 people.  We split into about 4 groups after my little micro seminar on lighting, and walked around Middletown, shooting shadows, people, textures, etc.

The group is free to be part of and just a resource for anyone interested in photography to help learn and develop.  For the pro’s it’s a reason to get out and “play” while teaching and helping everyone else who wants to learn more about their cameras and photography.   For the amateurs, it’s a chance to learn from each other, and make great friends with some pros that can help guide you in the workings of your camera and some techniques.

Sign up here.  (Click) www.meetup.com/shootout

Like I said it’s no charge to be a member or come to any of the meetups we will have.

If you want to see everyone’s photos from the day, you can view them here.  http://www.meetup.com/shootout/photos/all_albums/

Here are a few shots taken by some of the members.

First of all, THANKS for an amazing learning experience! The information has made me much more aware of lighting in particular and the capability of my camera in general! I had no idea that I could do more than point and shoot with it! I was eager to practice all the techniques which has already made a difference in how I look at subjects and in the quality of my photos.
This event is something I’ve so been looking for. It’s always been the expense of a formal class that’s stopped me. I feel this event was far more valuable than a simple “continuing education” class would’ve been. I learned from both the professionals AND the non-professionals in a very hands on, “real life” way.
With this all in mind, I am eager to learn more and more! I look forward to future meetups!
