Jessica and Keith | Real Wedding Story

Welcome to Jessica and Keith’s Real Wedding Story held at The East Ballroom at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut.  They describe their wedding day firsthand from our interview.

When was your wedding?  5/18/2013

What made you choose your wedding date?  The season and weather. We both wanted cooler weather but to avoid the rain in the spring.

A sneak peek into our Engagement session…

What was the funniest thing that your remember happening? In the beginning of the ceremony, the Officiant recalled when my husband asked for my parents’ blessing before proposing to me and quoting my Father’s response as being “sure, now I can finally take her off the payroll.”

And now, our wedding day…

What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day? The weather was perfect! It was sunny and cool until the last hour of our reception. It was perfect for our photos before and after the ceremony. Also, the guys weren’t too hot in their suits!

Wedding Dress byJustin Alexander.  Men’s Tuxes: Vera Wang from Men’s Warehouse.
Bridesmaids dresses by Dessy and Bridesmaid bracelets by Kate Spade.
Bride shoes by Paris Hilton and Brides necklace and Silver Ribbon of Westport, Connecticut.

What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number? Our total guest count on our wedding day was 120. We invited 185, but started with over 220. Ultimately we wanted to invite our closest family and friends to celebrate with us on our special day.

Where did you have your Ceremony? Our ceremony was at The Waterview in the wall-to-wall marble ceremony room. It was breathtaking!

Who did your makeup?   Lindsey

Who was the florist?  Barbara

What do you remember most about the Ceremony? How excited and nervous we were. Also, how incredible our Officiant was in creating such a powerful and memorable ceremony for us and our family and friends. She went above and beyond any expectations we had!

Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective) The moments right before our coordinator opened the french doors for my Father and I to begin our walk into the ceremony room and down the aisle. The strings were playing beautifully and yet the entire room seemed perfectly silent. My Father and I were just waiting there arm in arm and my heart was beating out of my chest so heavily all I could think of to do was my yoga breathing. When Jon asked if we were ready, and opened the doors, I nodded and my Dad and I looked at each other and he said, “here we go”.

Who was the Officiant?  Victoria Burdick

What part of the day do you want to do again and why? We would want to re-do our ceremony kiss. Keith would want to hold be able to hold me and I wish I hadn’t been handed my bouquet too early.

Who was your coordinator or designer, (if any)? Jon Casson with The Waterview.

Where was the reception held?  The East Ballroom at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut.

What ended up being your favorite photo? Keith’s favorite is when we were in the empty ceremony room and we were against the wall and you can see our reflection in the mirror. Jessica’s favorite is the one of us in the outdoor ceremony area with Keith’s back leaning against the pillar and the water/trees/flowers in back of us.

What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now) When we were back in the empty ceremony room practicing our “first dance” after taking our family and portrait photos… We finally felt comfortable and loose in front of the camera.

What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations? Our DJ, John, who was the MC as well. Also, our coordinator, Jon, who was appointed to us by The Waterview. They incorporated every detail we had talked about in the months leading up to our wedding day and they didn’t miss one detail!

Any advice to offer new brides and grooms to-be? Don’t sweat the small stuff!  Make sure all of the vendors have all of the correct details 24 hours before your wedding day to ensure there are no last-minute snafus.

What regrets, (if any) do you have about the planning of your wedding and your decisions leading up to the day?  I wish I’d had a professional videographer. I had a friend video the ceremony, and I wish I’d had it done by a pro and had the entire wedding done. I’d love to see the things I missed.

Who was the entertainment?  Ceremony: Millennium Music
Reception: Party Pro DJ

Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective) Getting into our 1989 Rolls Royce get-away-car. Everything set in and it all felt real and exciting to be with my wife.

Where did you get your rings? Peter Suchy Jewelers

Where did you take your honeymoon? And how did you like it? Zoetry Paraiso Bonita in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It was the most relaxing, beautiful, fun and incredible spa resort we’ve ever been to.
