Lauren and Matt | Real Wedding Story

Welcome to Lauren and Matt’s Real Wedding Story held at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut .  They describe their wedding day firsthand from our interview.

When was your wedding?  9/1/2012

What made you choose your wedding date?  The bride’s parents were also married Labor Day weekend, 32 years ago. Selecting a holiday weekend allowed our family and friends, many of whom travelled from out-of-state, to attend all of the wedding festivities.

Who did your hair? Jenna Poitras

Who did your makeup? Susan Houde

Bride’s shoes by Frye

Wedding Dress is Augusta Jones from Kleinfields in New York City.  All Tuxedos by Calvin Klein from Men’s Warehouse.

Who was your florist? Melissa from Stylish Blooms

Who was your videographer?  Michael and Ryan Horn from Inspiration in Motion

What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day?  The bride had joked for months that on the day of the wedding it was going to be 75 degrees and sunny. Sure enough, we had a gorgeous day!

What do you remember most about the ceremony? Right before the ceremony began a hawk was circling above where our guests were sitting. To us and our guests the hawk was a symbol of our family and friends watching down on us and our special day.

Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective) My most vivid memory is seeing my soon to be husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle. The doors opened, I saw him standing there and was overcome with emotion.

What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number?  We had 200 guests at our wedding. We wanted to have all of our family and friends celebrate with us which in turn gave us about 200 people.

Where did you have your ceremony and reception?  The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut

Who was the Officiant? Carol Yingling

Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective) It was probably the anticipation and nerves. I couldn’t believe the day was here and then was hoping that I didn’t mess anything up. Luckily things seemed to go on without a hitch!

What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations? My husband and I are huge hockey fans, we carried this through by having our cake topper bride and groom rooting for our favorite teams. the father of the groom and the sister of the groom wore hockey jerseys for their entrance to the Hartford Whaler’s theme song, The Brass Bonanza.

Who was the entertainment? Vinny and Jason from CT Party Pros

What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now) Jen, Jerome, and Amanda were so friendly and easy to work with. We always felt completely at ease and relaxed with them. Definitely made for a great photography experience!

The father of the bride is an Optometrist and handed out sunglasses to all of the wedding guests.

What part of the day do you want to do again and why?  The bride would like to allow herself more time to get ready. It was a rush to have hair and makeup done, get dressed, snap some photos, and leave on time. I definitely should have allowed myself more time, it would have made things less stressful!

The bride jokes that she has the appetite of a five-year old. Sure enough the reception featured a mini burger bar, an ice cream sundae bar, and a desert table. The bride also had chicken fingers as her main course!

Where did you get your rings? Ladonna Jewelers

Any advice to offer new brides and grooms to-be?  Wedding planning can certainly be stressful and overwhelming. Be sure to take time to spend with each other, go to dinner, or the movies, and not have any wedding talk!

What was the funniest thing that your remember happening? The bride and her dad danced to “All of My Life” by the Beatles which transitioned into “Shots” by LMFAO. We put our sunglasses on and were joined by the bridal party for some serious dancing. It caught guests by surprise and was funny to see their reactions!

What ended up being your favorite photo?  The photo of my husband and I dancing. It is a completely candid moment, we have on sunglasses and sneakers, and huge grins on our faces. The photo captures how much fun we were having and how much we were enjoying ourselves.

The bride and groom donned personalized sneakers by New Balance for the reception. Nothing like having comfortable footwear for dancing!

Where did you take your honeymoon? And how did you like it?  We cruised the Caribbean aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas. We had beautiful weather and a very relaxing time.
