Welcome to Lauren and Robert’s Real Wedding Story held at The Society Room in Hartford, Connecticut. They describe their wedding day firsthand from our interview.
When was your wedding? 10/12/2012
What made you choose your wedding date? We absolutely love the Fall in New England! It’s our favorite time of year and we really wanted to capture all the beauty this special time of year brings along with our wedding day so we decided to get married in October.
What was the most memorable part of your photography experience with Studio1923? (From engagement all the way till now) We can’t say enough great things about Studio 1923, they were beyond amazing and completely exceeded our expectations! From engagement to now they have been just so awesome! Their talent and product speaks for itself. We feel so lucky and blessed to have had Studio 1923 with us through the whole thing from engagement to now by our side to capture some of the most precious moment of our lives together. We remember first meeting Jen, Amanda and Jerome over a bottle of wine talking about our wedding and we were so impressed and thrilled with them we didn’t even bother to look for anyone else because we fell in love with Studio 1923 and their personal touch that was shown to us right away. We remember feeling like Studio 1923 cared about us and our vision, and we appreciated that so much!
Here are 2 pictures from the engagement shoot…
Where did you have your ceremony? St. Peter’s Church, Hartford, Connecticut.
Who did your hair and makeup? Naomi Studio & Salon in West Hartford, Connecticut. Hair stylist was Tonya and makeup artist was Candice.
Wedding dress is Watters from Mariella Creations, Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Tuxes from Modern’s, North Haven, Connecticut.
What was the weather like, and was it what you hoped for? How did it impact your day? The weather was all we hoped for and more. It did rain a bit the morning of, but it didn’t bother us as we felt it gave us a bit of good luck! The sun came out shining bright early afternoon and it ended up being a completely gorgeous day. The sun was beaming so brilliant and there was a slight crisp Fall breeze as we were to be married so it was just perfect and everything we imagined it would be like getting married in October.
Besides the “getting married” part, what was the most vivid memory of your wedding day? (Bride’s perspective) Bride- getting out of the party bus, and entering the church, I remember feeling every emotion all at once. I was excited, nervous, happy, anxious, all of the above. I’ll never forget the overwhelming feeling of happiness. It was the most exciting moment of my life!
Besides the “getting married ” part, what was the most vivid memory of the day? (Groom’s perspective) Groom- watching my beautiful bride come down the aisle with her Father. I remember a feeling of happiness and pure bliss. I couldn’t wait to marry the love of my life!
What was the total guest count? Why did you pick the number of guests you did? Was it hard to get to that number? The total guest count was 140 people. We invited about 175, and the guest count was exactly what we had hoped for. We wanted to keep the reception feeling intimate and personal so we felt like we accomplished that with all of our closest family and friends surrounding us. It was a magical night.
Who was the Officiant? Father Diario Diaz
What do you remember most about the ceremony? Our ceremony was nothing short of beautiful. Two things we remember the most from our ceremony. The priest was so wonderful; his spiritual and yet sweet demeanor really made our ceremony so special. He was very ‘old fashioned’ in the delivery of his Service, and many guests appreciated that and complimented us on our ceremony. And, the church is absolutely stunning. I always imagined getting married in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC as a little girl, and St. Peter’s Church wasn’t far from it in our minds. St. Peter’s Church is one of the oldest in all of the state, we just loved all the beautiful features and our photographers did a great job of capturing them all in our photos!
Where was the Reception held? The Society Room, Hartford, Connecticut.
What ended up being your favorite photo? Oh my goodness, we have so many ‘favorites’ but we have to say the ‘angel’ picture where Lauren’s veil is flowing in the wind outside the church after the wedding Ceremony. It is beyond amazing, and definitely our favorite, favorite picture. So many of our friends and family agree, it’s a stunning photo. Jen and Amanda deserve all the credit for capturing such an amazing moment!!
What made your reception personalized to your own unique vision and expectations? The vision for our reception was ‘timeless’. We wanted to have an enduring theme and a timeless feel. We think we accomplished that by having our reception at The Society Room speak for itself as our guests were surrounded by the ornate, beautiful ambiance. We did add our own personal touches but let the romance of the reception environment speak for itself with the dim lighting and candles everywhere!
Who was your coordinator or designer, (if any)? The Society Room’s wedding coordinator, Dana Montanari
What was the funniest thing that your remember happening? Oh my goodness! The funniest thing we remember is when our bridal party was being introduced to our guests, one of the bridesmaids and two of our groomsmen mixed up their entrance and they all fell to the floor in front of everyone! It was hysterical. We were watching from the upstairs mezzanine dying of laughter. It was awesome, and so funny!
What part of the day do you want to do again and why? All of it! We would do the whole day over again in a second. It was the best day of our lives.
What regrets, (if any) do you have about the planning of your wedding and your decisions leading up to the day? None! We wouldn’t change a thing, not one thing.
Where did you get your rings? Engagement: Sullivan’s Jewelers in Middlebury, Connecticut & Wedding bands from Harstands Jewelers in Wallingford, Connecticut.
Any advice to offer new brides and grooms to-be? New brides, remain calm and remember through all the planning and deadlines to meet.. that at the end of the day you’re marrying the love of your life and that’s all that matters. Everything will fall into place and happen as it should, don’t stress the small stuff! Grooms-to-be, be patient and understanding with your bride and understanding she wants everything to be perfect on your day
Who was the videographer? Neil Kelly, 5 Star Productions
Who was the entertainment? Audio Media Solutions in East Hartford, Connecticut (Mike Tierney was our emcee and Erin was our DJ)
Other Comments you would like to add…. We’re SO honored and excited to be asked for our wedding to be featured. Honestly, it was the happiest day of our lives, and the photos we received we think speak to that. They were all literally amazing, so we’re very happy to be able to share our special day with others! Thank you!!
