Life's little luxuries…

This Christmas, Jen got me one of the best gifts.  I’ve always been frustrated with the standard collar stays on most of my dress shirts.  Collar stays are often plastic or thin metal strips that are either permanently sewn or removable, which run along the outer edge of a collar to give them a straight flat appearance.   Almost all, however; seem to curl with time, leaving you a collar that is always looks worn and weathered.   God forbid, you send them to the dry cleaner’s with the collar stays in there!  Then they come back pressed into the shirt with grooves outlining your plastic stays.  In the midst of weddings, sometime I would use a bobby pin

inside my collar stays to keep them rigid, because it drove me that insane to have my collars flipping up… lol

Of course, the bobby pins always worked very well,  (my little trade secret) lol.

Now enter: “the brothers”

Made exclusively by “the brothers”  (Brooks Brothers), these stays are so awesome!  Slipping a pair of these chrome plated heavy weight stays into your dress shirts,  is like slipping on your favorite pair of jeans on a Sunday afternoon.  It’s definitely a tad bit particular, but it’s one of the awesome little luxuries that help keep me going strong all day long.  🙂  Jen was able to also get me the difficult to find silver ones, instead of the gold ones that are normal sold.   Thanks so much baby!  🙂  Click on the photo to go to the Brooks Brothers’ website.

I hate that same problem. These are very cool, but damn….$65.

I bought these for Bill too, due to the same annoying symptoms you described. They carry the silver in the store. He spends five days a week in a suit–they pay for themselves very quickly! And they do make a great gift!
